Christmas fairs but not the usual suspects

The ‘most wonderful time of the year’ is creeping up and what better way to get into the spirit, support the independents, and do a bit of christmas shopping than indulging yourself with a few hours at a Christmas Fair!  They are around every corner from this week onwards, although here at Earth, Wit & Style we have an unwritten rule that all things Christmas can only really be indulged in, from at the earliest, the last week in November… with that in mind here’s three of the best, ones you may not know about, get a day in your Christmas Diary!

A gorgeous, established Festival with a victorian feel celebrated throughout the town.

Running from 10am on Sunday 10th December with reindeer, live music, grotto, victorian fairground rides, stalls. facepainting and more ….

 

If you prefer contemporary and artistic to Victorian then this one’s for you!

The Hepworth Gallery in Wakefield is a gorgeous Art Gallery and all round ‘beautiful space’ at any time of the year, but from 24th-27th November in excess of 80 amazing tradesfolk descend to create what The Guardian have called ‘One of Britain’s best Christmas Markets’ making it an even more appealing destination!

Talented artists and designers from all over the UK will be in residence, alongside a food and drink tent selling artisan produce and a special outside area serving Street Food.

There’ll be a Santas Grotto, free craft activities, printmaking and workshops for adults too!

Running from noon until 7pm on 24th and 10am – 5pm on 25th , 26th It’s just £1 entry fee and this goes towards the Gallery Charitable aims.

 

 

Knaresborough Christmas Market runs the first weekend in December

Based in the Market Square of this pretty Yorkshire town, this Christmas Market is traditional and compact, again with a victorian feel.

A stage is erected and boasts a entertainment agenda of dance and music on both days.

In addition to the usual suspects found at these events, you will have the opportunity to enjoy the local choral society and a church choir whilst you shop.
