Gin!

gin

Gin, also known as Mother’s Ruin, wasn’t always the favoured pastime that it is recognised as today. Back in the 17th Century when gin was first created, it was used as medicine to treat ailments such as stomach ulcers, gout and gallstones.
Moving away from the brief history of Gin, a common question that is asked is…
“What’s the difference between Gin and Vodka?”
Quite simply it is the botanical in the gin called Juniper. If you’re a big fan of Gin, you might know a little bit about the botanical Juniper. However, contrary to what some people believe, Juniper wasn’t always an ingredient in Gin. It wasn’t until during the War that the Dutch added the botanical to Gin to create a palatable drink rather than a medicine.

Gin blog

Liquid Indulgence have an extensive range of luxury and exclusive gins. Yet,they have noticed that many of their customers prefer a certain gin. One of the main reasons for this is the varied blend of botanicals in each gin. Listed below are the other dominant botanicals found in gin.

Lavender – a flowering plant with an unmistakable palate of sweet floral notes. This is a botanical that has a strong presence within American Gins such as Deaths Door and Glorious Gin.

Cardamom – Ever tasted a hint of Ginger in your gin? That would be the cardamom which is a distant relative of the fragrant spice.

Coriander – Common in dry gins such as Gin Sea and Organic Transparens. Coriander offers aromatic tones of citrus, sage and ginger.

Anise Seed – A main botanical in our colour changing Imagic Gin. Here we have a Mediterranean spice which is likened to liquorice.

Dried Sweet Orange Peel – All but one dry gin made today contains a citrus element. The orange peel offers refreshing notes and a zingy structure.
