There’s a new category of clothing that has been simmering away on the fashion stove for a while now, nestled between knitwear and nightwear on the drop down lists online. Gently book ending your day between coming home and taking off your work clothes but before the clock dictates pyjama time: loungewear.

Not for public consumption, this is strictly behind-closed-doors-wear but that doesn’t give you licence to don your husband’s oversized (and over-worn) threadbare cashmere jumper and your old tracksuit bottoms emblazoned with the logo of the university you attended what seems like light years ago. Hoodies, soft t-shirts, joggers and even the odd jumpsuit is what you want here.

Think chic chilled to perfection soft fabrics like cashmere, silk, cotton and jersey, enveloping you after a hard day. These items, once purchased, could also work as post-workout wear, especially pieces with a hood. Feel free to waft in a silk kimono but those fringed sleeves play fire starting heck if you are cooking diner and are oft known to drape over the edge of the bath whilst bathing your kids so if a jacket is more up your lounging street, then a bed jacket is perfect for you. Whilst padding around make sure your feet are perfectly pedicured: this is not the time to reach for pair of old gym socks.
