Sequin skirts

Unless you’re living in a black hole or you are very much in denial ( I try!) you may have noticed that we are well and truly immersed in the the festive season. Love it or loathe it you may as well embrace it, after all it only comes round once a year right?

This year however will be different. I refuse to fall foul of the head to toe, all in one sequin number which let’s face it will most likely end up resulting in a look more “strictly come dancing” than studio54. Plus it’ll only get a wardrobe outing each Christmas and will probably set you back a fair bit.

Instead, I’ll be opting for a sequin skirt. Why? Well, it still has all the glitz and glamour that I’m after but if styled in the right way this item will last you throughout the seasons and will be a hard working piece in your wardrobe. (Pic of Alex @thefrugality)

Needless to say there is a huge choice available in designer collections and affordable high street looks.

The key here is not to categorise the sequin skirt as solely an eveningwear piece. Who made the rule that sequins are just for the dark? Exactly….. No one, so stop saving best for best and instead get savvy on how you can wear this versatile item.

Alternatively knitwear works incredibly well with dressy sequins too with a pair of chunky boots, again, don’t be afraid of mixing things up a little.

Not only can this give you a great ‘desk to dancefloor’ combination but you’re also getting bang for your buck too!

If you decide to go bold with the colour of the sequins, the rest of the look should remain understated and just choose the fit that flatters you. But above all, have some fun.

Will this be a hit on the school run, doubtful, but I’m prepared to give it a try, who’s with me?!! @wearitlikeruth
