The beauty of Burnsall

Burnsall to Appletreewick

burnsall 1

Half term is nearly here and with it the need to peel the kids away from the TV/tablet/phone and enjoy these beautiful crisp cold days.

Could there be a greater joy than that of a family walk, here is one that is further afield but definately worth the drive.

Burnsall is situated near Grassington. Heading out of Harrogate on the A59 you will pick up signs for Grassington prior to reaching the Bolton Abbey Estate.

Once in Burnsall there are plently of places to park , there are tea rooms a plenty and the fantastic Red Lion pub! www.redlion.co.uk

There is also a large expanse of grass where the kids can safely let off steam, it’s perfect for a picnic too! Beyond here you will find a fantastic pebbly beach with shallow access to the river.

If you can tear yourselves away from Burnsall then the circular walk of 4.4 miles to Appletreewick (accessed by crossing the bridge) is fabulous, you pass the fantastic Masons campsite half way round www.masonscampsite.co.uk who serve quality barista coffee and cake from a shed , great for re fuelling !
