Tipple of the month? Chocolate beer

Ilkley - The Mayan

One of the truly exciting aspects of the current “Craft Beer Revolution” is the myriad of bold and, frankly, bonkers expressions of beer that have been made.

Some are almost so way out that they represent nothing more than a curio, however, some are real tongue rattlers! This beer falls into the later category. Using dark, heady malts, subtle but grounding hops and then an infusion of dark chocolate and Chipotle chili, Ilkley Brewery have conjured up a real native American spirited brew.

It tastes… well… very chocolaty at first, then it rolls into something slightly reminiscent of a gently spicy bottle of “old skool”

Guinness! It’s a marvel to be slowly sipped with your favourite TV drama or even paired with a chili-con-carne supper. It truly is more “chocolate” than “beer” in flavour and so is a must-try bottle for any cocoa fiends!
