To brow or not to brow

Eyebrows are EVERYWHERE literally everywhere you look there are different degrees of imposing eyebrow, there are even rants on facebook. The younger you are the more in your face (sorry) it appears the brow needs to be so do you or don’t you.

I have read many an article about brows and it usually starts with an admission to overplucking in the 80’s/90’s/00’s however this isn’t my problem. I just have s**t brows. They grow sparsely from just above my eye socket, up, they grow really long!!! in all different shades from blond to dark and to add insult to injury even though I have very few grey hairs on my head I have them in my brows.

So this was why I took the plunge and had semi permanent micropigmentation on my brows. I asked for micro blading…but on further discussion decided on hairstroke using digital machine method. Microblading uses a hand held tool and lightly cuts the hairstroke into the skin, and then pigment is added…digital machine method perforates the skin and inserts pigment directly into the area.

Machine method tends to have more longevity and a more bespoke brow style option…hairstroke, soft powder, ombré, combination…

So what do you need to consider before making quite a dramatic change to your face?

  1. Do your homework, find the right expert. Do not go for your friends, friends teenage daughters recommendation, if you don’t want to look like your friends, friends teenage daughter. Look at your chosen therapists eyebrows, if they look like they have been drawn on with a Sharpie, that is probably what you will end with.
  2. A consultation should include having brows drawn on for you to consider…don’t choose from a picture!
  3. Be prepared to be there longer than you think. Any therapist taking the proper care and attention should take about 1 and a half to 2 hours to complete 2 eyebrows.
  4.  Take a deep breath before your first look in the mirror, they will look a lot darker than you probably expected. I panicked and thought I was going to look like Groucho Marx for the rest of my life. Probably stay away from the mirror for a few days until they have calmed down. They usually fade somewhere between 30-50%.
  5. You will need to not get them wet or put make-up on them for 7 days, and take 4 weeks for the colour to settle fully.
  6. If you have chosen the right therapist and followed the aftercare advice they will look AMAZING!

Where did we go………….
