What to wear…..September

Hello September!!  It’s my favourite time of year when we’ve finally accepted it’s the end of the summer & we begin to embrace cosy knits and pumpkin soup (too much?!?)
Have you, like me started to  create a wish list of Autumn/ Winter pieces you’re lusting after. How good are the colours, patterns and fabrics in store right now?  I swear every September I write a list that goes like this:
Coat, Boots,Tights….
You get the idea. I’m very lucky though as I celebrate my birthday in October so often my most coveted pieces can be disguised as presents (from me, to me!!)
But…hold on, before you hit the shops, have a think about what you really need. What are the gaps in your wardrobe? I want to share with you what I’m wearing today because not only is it super wearable, comfortable & stylish but as an outfit it features three of my wardrobe staples that can be worn all year round.
The white shirt – this particular one is from Hobbs. A good white shirt is worth investing in. It’s not just for the office. It’s a timeless wardrobe staple that will see you through the seasons. It’s an incredibly versatile piece that you can wear by itself, under a blazer with heels for an evening look and right now there’s a trend for larger collars which styled under a cute knit with jeans is perfect for a smart daytime look.
Places to look for a white shirt – M&S, Arket, Hobbs, Zara, Cos, Kin (at John Lewis)
The Jeans – Find the shape that makes you feel happy. We know denim will always feature heavily and be it skinny, flared, baggy, straight legged, they’ll never go out of style. Personally I prefer a high rise, mum fit style jean these days. This pair is from &otherstories. Aim to have a maximum of three pairs of jeans in your wardrobe that offer different uses & can be worn on different occasions. I love a balance of a really feminine, lace detailed or floral blouse teamed with a faded tom boy fit Jean.
Where to find your jeans – Zara, Topshop (mid blue editor is gorge!)  M&S (high rise Mom Jean) &otherstories (straight leg cut) Arket (regular cropped jean)
The Trainers – As a white shirt & jeans is a very classic look, I wanted to add an element of fun. These leopard print Copeland trainers by Air & Grace that were a birthday present about 4 years ago now have been the best footwear investment ever. For a start they are super comfortable but they’re also stylish and lets face it, animal print isn’t going anywhere!!
Don’t be afraid of wearing trainers with a trouser suit or a blouse, again, the idea of de-formalising a look will give you many more wears out of typically smarter pieces. Be bold and have some fun.
Trainers right now – M&S, Superga (great collab with Scamp & Dude) Nike, Veja, Golden Goose, Air & Grace
